School Spirit

Recently I was in Brentwood Tennessee’s mall and discovered some unusual sighting of Converse Chuck Taylor All Stars. Kids from Battleground were wearing the colors of the Franklin High students. When I asked why they said it was because of the rivalry between the schools and the first football game is in two weeks.

Interesting. I once had a Carolina Blue High Top Chuck Taylor with a Miami embroidered logo. This I wore knowing we were going to kick their butt in the seasons opener. Step Out!

Converse has been actively working with the American Diabetes Association to promote additional awareness of this disease. An annual walk to honor family members of one of Converse’s Vice Presidents ( David Allen ) has been under way for quite a few years.
This season Mr. Allen is donating 300 pairs of Red Converse Chuck Taylor All Star High Tops to the cause, which honors his family and others who have been taken by this disease.
AmericanAthletics.com has the privilege of placing a special patch on these shoes for Mr. Allen’s Family and the annual walk called “STEP OUT” American Diabetes Association Walk to Fight Diabetes.

Lovable Chucks!

Just watched Despicable Me, two characters had Converse All Star Red High Tops on their feet. This animated movie has these high tops animated on one of the main characters Margo, and the main character Mr. Gru’s mother. They (The Chucks) looked great and the movie was very well done. Funny and smart to the finish.
While looking for additional articles on the movie I noticed a cover story with Rachael Ray in her Converse Chuck Taylors, and Ellen who is still a strong promoter of the Converse Brand while wearing The John Varvatos Slips on a regular schedule.
They are everywhere, and they should be on your feet.

The Chuck Team

Wow! Last night I saw the new A-TEAM movie. Exciting, fast moving, but unbelievable in it’s antics and computer generated hype.
First scene shows my favorite character B.A. Baracus (formerly played by Mr.T) in a fight with a Kung-Fu expert wearing Converse Chuck Taylor All Star Low Tops.
What a fight! What a shoe! Chucks are great on or off the silver screen.
This morning’s USA Today reinforces the enjoyment of wearing the Converse Collection which includes the Jack Purcell in a cell phone company ad.
Bill Walton, famed NBA Player and his son’s are doing a T-MOBILE advertisement talking about sticking together. He says they disagree on everything from movies to shampoo and that “you may call us dysfunctional” but he calls it family.
Can’t be all bad it they wear CONVERSE shoes.

Sports, Illustrated

Sports Illustrated is promoting a book with photos and stories from past magazine articles over the years. The book is called “Sports Illustrated, The Basketball Book.” Staggering stats, and incredible images are portrayed in the book, which is a virtual museum of sports basketball history.
One picture shown is Boston Celtics Guard Bob Cousy in a pair of Converse Chuck Taylor All-stars Black High Top. What a player. What a shoe.

Miley, Again

In April we saw the first serious movie featuring Miley Cyrus, “THE LAST SONG.”

Since this feature I have been receiving pictures from the girls in my family showing their Converse Chuck Taylor All Stars with words, designs, etc. penned on the toe.

Celebrity Chucks

I have been watching The Celebrity Apprentice with Donald Trump. Each week the group is all over New York working for donations that go to their favorite charity.
Not great television, but funny and it calls me back to watch it every week.
The guy I like is Curtis Stone, the celebrity chef and his wardrobe. What is so great about it? He wears Converse Jack Purcell Shoes. Jack Purcell’s are a signature for cool , and they have been ever since James Dean use to wear them in the 50’s on the set of some of his movies.
I have a picture in my office of James Dean on the set of Rebel Without A Cause. He is sitting in a directors chair with his feet up on a table. What was he wearing? Converse Jack Purcell Shoes.

They’re Everywhere!

Evidently the afternoon show Ellen is being sponsored by CONVERSE.
This afternoon as I watched the show sign off there was a cartoon of a persons legs with the Black Converse Chuck Taylor All Star drawn into the picture.

This week while watching TV I saw the black low top CONVERSE Shoe on 15 shows. What a stroke of good luck to have the Converse All Star displayed all over the networks.

Fast Food & Fast Shoes

I heard that The University of North Carolina, UNC has proposed a 18% tax on pizza and soft drinks. They feel this could change the habits of students and residents toward eating so much fast food. Research shows that this change in lifestyle can reduce the average weight of the coed, by 5 lbs per year. Good bye freshman 15.
I hope we don’t look too far past the food to the Converse Chuck Taylor All Star. We don’t need an additional tax on America’s first shoe of choice. Choice of the tired, the poor, the…well you know what I mean.
I love to pay my share of tax. Just my fair share.

Chucks in Laguna

Riding down the PCH last week my wife and I stopped in Laguna Beach for a shake at J. Rockets, which is right on the beach near the lifeguard stand. Sitting and sipping I noticed a group of highschoolers in the shop with Converse Chuck Taylor All Star Slips. All wore black Chucks, and all were cool. I asked “Where do you buy them in California?” No one had a clue, they all bought on line.
